Wise Bestowment

"Trusting in the Father's wise bestowment" is a mouthful and a mindful.

For the tune and to sing along-

Day By Day, And With Each Passing Moment

Day by day, and with each passing moment,
Strength I find to meet my trials here;
Trusting in my Father's wise bestowment,
I've no cause for worry or for fear.
He, whose heart is kind beyond all measure,
Gives unto each day what He deems best,
Lovingly its part of pain and pleasure,
Mingling toil with peace and rest.
Every day the Lord Himself is near me,
With a special mercy for each hour;
All my cares He fain would bear and cheer me,
He whose name is Counsellor and Pow'r.
The protection of His child and treasure
Is a charge that on Himself He laid;
"As thy days, thy strength shall be in measure,"
This the pledge to me He made.
Help me then, in every tribulation,
So to trust Thy promises, O Lord,
That I lose not faith's sweet consolation,
Offered me within Thy holy Word.
Help me, Lord, when toil and trouble meeting,
E'er to take, as from a father's hand,
One by one, the days, the moments fleeting,
Till with Christ the Lord I stand.

Thank you for sharing this. It has been a long long time since I have actually thought about this hymn. I think I'm going to try to make a place for it in the front part of my brain.

Interestingly enough I went to Rhapsody....(a subscription music provider with every song and cd under the sun all listenable from my phone or computer for 10.00 a month) and searched for day by day and came up with 153 pages of songs with that title. It quickly became apparent that most of them are not the hymn, but I did find a few excellent versions to put into my playlist. So again a big thank you.

Tim- You are welcome. I'm thankful for the blessing from an old classic hymn! It's one I was some familiar with, but recently it has been requested during Sunday meetings and I've come to appreciate it even more! (Isn't it interesting how songs sometimes stick and circulate for awhile within a church body?)

I don't know that I've ever really thought about the words. Good hymn! I miss singing hymns. Everything is so contemporary these days. I like praise songs, but the hymns have so much more depth!
