Sunday Drive in the Smoky Valley near Falun and "Why They Call it Falun"

Wheat harvest is nearly complete. Grass fields are being cut and baled into large round bales.

These last two photographs were taken in the almost forgotten little town called Falun (Fall-en).
"It's like someone takes a pin to your balloon."
Falun's not much of a town now, but the countryside surrounding Falun is some of the prettiest in the Smoky Valley. We used to live in that countryside near Falun. When we first moved out there, Lee Ann Womack had a song on the radio called "Why They Call It Falling". (We were giving country music a try since we were gonna be country folk) and when Christine heard me singin it with a special country twang, she thought the song was about our new address! "Why they call it "Falun", why they call it Falun, why they call it Falun, I don't know."
I never thought much about why they call it Falun, but now I know.
It was named after a place in Dalarna County, Sweden.
And now you know too!
Here's a father a…

Sin is my malady, my monster, my foe, my viper

"Lord Jesus Christ,
Sin is my malady, my monster, my foe, my viper,
born in my birth, alive in my life,
strong in my character, dominating my faculties,
following me as a shadow, intermingling with my every thought,
my chain that holds me captive.
Yet your compassions yearn over me,
your heart hastens to my rescue,
your love endured my curse,
your mercy bore my justice.
Let me walk in humility,
bathed in your blood,
tender of conscience,
living in triumph as an heir of salvation
through your blessed name. Amen."

(This is a Conferssion of Sin that we often confess together as a church during Sunday Worship.)

Romans 7:24,25
Wretched man that I am! Who will set me free from the body of this death? Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord!

If I raise my hands just to lift the shade
Will I reveal a sky heavy and gray?
Will last night be a memory sweetly fading?
How I hate a morning starting out this way
On these lonely raging mornings I would whip you if I could
But Your on the mighty side of s…

Playing Dominoes

Christine, Mike and I have been playing some Dominoes around here lately. We're playing  "Mike's Great Aunts" variation which isn't listed in the instructions.
I had never looked at the instructions before. I never knew there were so many Domino variations until I looked at the instructions that came with our Double Six Set. We were mid-game when I began reading.
There are 15 games listed: Poker, Cardinal Mexican Train, Muggins, Draw, Block, Four-Hand-Texas, Bergen, Matador, Tiddle-A-Wink,
Sebastopol, Bingo, The Big Clock Solitaire, Traffic Solitaire, Good Neighbors Solitaire and Squeeze Solitaire. While I was reading instructions and adding commentary about the ridiculous wording of the instructions, Mike was waiting and he made up his own game.

Baby Robins and Oh, Do You See the "Mushroom Man"?

Mama Robin hatched her eggs.

She is often gone from her nest searching out food for her hungry babies.

We think there are two babies.
Ah, the poor helpless little homely things.

And "Oh! Do you know the Mushroom Man"?
(Okay, the Mushroom "Face"? See it?)

Sunday Drive

We drove mostly down Lindsborg alleys
and these photos were taken from the car window.

Baroque and Blue

I bought the album, Suite for Flute and Jazz Piano Trio, back when it was new-ish when the music store I was in was playing the album. I liked it and after seeing the cover art I was intrigued enough to spend my hard-earned waitress tips to add this album to my collection! Today I still enjoy the album and would mention it in my top 20 faves. The timeless music almost always helps to cheer me up. I've been listening and needing to listen quite a bit lately! I hope you can enjoy it too. I recommend the album! Here is another favorite from the album. And here. And hearone more! I can't think of a song that's not a favorite on the album!
