Winter Day in Fog and Nostalgia

Mike and I drove to visit Christine today. We began our trip at 7 AM in a dense morning fog which continued throughout the day and evening. On our return trip this afternoon and evening, we detoured a bit. Some photos were taken in Sterling where I was born and some were taken in Lyons where my dear Mom and Dad lived in early marriage...

Sandstone Church Building

Sign on a coffee shop
If it would have been open, Mike and I would have entered through the backdoor!

An Empty Brick Building

Old Bowling Alley Sign and a Missing Sign

Train on Tracks that Run Through Town

My Mom and Grandma shared meals in the historic former Ly-Kan Hotel and I remember a few times joining them as a younger girl. It is now a Chinese Restaurant and
"The Underground Bar and Lounge"

All the fog and nostalgia brought to mind this Amy Grant song...

Hope you had a very nice time together.

The hippie sign reminds me of the old song, "Signs."

Remember it?

And the sign said, long haired, ....people need not apply,
so I tucked my hair up under my hat and I went in to ask him why?

"Chris- Ha! "Do this. Don't do that. Can't you read the sign?!"

Sterling and Lyons--places I remember well from 3rd and 4th grade. I hope you and I can meet someday and share some KS sky together over lemonade and cookies.

Your pictures are really good, Laurie. Nigh on profesional. I LOVE the sycamore tree w/ seed balls--very cool. And the lamppost one, too. Kudoes to your photography. Praying for you all.

Zo- You're sweet to give that photo compliment. Thanks. It does help to have a decent subject (and to be a bit OCD). Just ask Mike. Yes. Let's enjoy KS sky together one day... soon?

so I took off my hat and said, "imagine that! Huh, me, workin' for you!"
