Winter Wind and the Warmth by the Fireside

The north wind doth blow, And we shall have snow, And what will poor Robin do then? Poor thing! He'll hide in the barn, And keep himself warm, And hide his head under his wing Poor thing! Yes, the Kansas winds are howling and serve as a reminder of the blessing of a cozy, warm home. The crackling fireside beckons us to sit close with a cup of hot tea and a book! Mike is reading Uncle Tom's Cabin by Harriet Beecher Stowe. I'm reading Holiness in Hidden Places by Joni Eareckson Tada and Christine is working on a cross-stitch project! We also took time to watch a very early (so early it was silent movie 1928) by Alfred Hitchcock that Mike got for Christmas. It was a sweet story of a widower farmer taking a wife. Not typical Hitchcock at all! Not even one "nail biting" scene! Earlier this afternoon a dear friend and I watched Tape 2 in a series called Grief Care. That's what's happening by the hearth this wintery Kansas evening as the cold wind howls outside!

I don't miss the cold at all. But that crackling fire does sound nice and I'm sure it smells so good! Popcorn anyone??
