Cars

Will the happiest car please pull forward...

I've always thought that grills of cars show expression. If you've seen Pixar's Cars, you may know that cars not only have expressions, but they also have "personalities". Here are a few faces of some older cars Mike and I saw on a car lot.

Mike says, "Do you know why that Chevy and Volkswagon have no front grill?"
Me: "Huh? No. What? They don't? Oh. Yeah!" "The VW and Chevy have their engines in the back."
(Yeah, I knew that about VW.)
Me: "So I'm not really looking at the 'grills' on the VW and Chevy?"

He says, "I'd call their front ends "noses'".
And from there the conversation gets weird(er) and we wonder what our car would be called if it had a name.
Some people have names for their cars. I hadn't known about naming cars until I met a young man who called his car "Bess". Years ago our family had an old yellow short school bus named Eggbert. It's the only vehichle we named. We bought the bus when it was being retired from service to a local school. The day we got it, I drove it from the school to the gas station. As it was being filled with gas, I fiddled until I got the hood popped and fiddled more until I found the dipstick. I laughed at how far I had to pull to get to the end of that dipstick. The girls and I laughed at the thought of having to keep pulling until I'd crossed the street to get to
the end!
The End

It is interesting to look at cars, especially old ones and see their "personalities"!

Eleanor said something the other day about our van's ears. It took me a minute to realize she meant the side view mirrors :-)

I think the one on the bottom left looks the happiest :-)

Thanks for the fun story, too...
Now I'm trying to figure out what we should name our vehicles!

I remember that bus!!!!!!!! I know I got to ride in it as least once on the way to Biblefest. I always thought that was the coolest thing, that you guys had your very own bus! Didn't know it had a name, Eggbert, that is cool. :)

Joanne! Of course you'd remember the bus! I'm not sure we advertised his name then! Maybe we should have ordered a special "Eggbert" tag!
How fun to imagine and to remember some one-of-a-kind fun times!!

The white one is "smiling" for sure.

My dad has always named his cars. Bonnie the Bonneville,Vera the Vera Cruz, Ruby the red Pontiac, and so on. I don't know why, but I didn't carry on the tradition.

Can't wait to visit you in Barb's car. We've been teasing that we both have cars like ourselves: older models, grey, and full of gas!
