It Is Well With My Soul

It Is Well With My Soul is one of my favorite hymns. A special version was when at the close of Rich Mullin's concerts he had his audience sing a cappella with him. After we sang he spoke about how he loved hymns and he exhorted his audience, "If you want to be entertained go to a concert, but better is to go be part of a church and sing the hymns..." (Paraphrase there.) His point was to encourage meeting with the church and not to substitute entertainment (concerts etc.) for meeting with the church!

Okay after all that about Rich Mullins, here is a YouTube video of Jars of Clay doing a nice version of "It is Well with My Soul".

I love that Hymn! I enjoy singing them in church much more than I enjoy the newer praise songs. Though now it seems people do not know how to sing a good ole hymn the good ole fashioned way! There are a lot of hymn-meets-praise song meshing and it makes me a little crazy!
