Tomtes Take Joy in Work and Play : Illustrated by Mike

Tomtes silently decorate storekeeper’s windows each cold winter’s day. At night, while storekeepers sleep, tomtes help with chores, sing and make merry.

The elves and the shoemaker is one of my favorite stories--very similar to this--the Swedish version, I'm sure.

When I taught first grade, we put on a little dramatic version of it for the rest of the school.

Just wondering, how do you pronounce tomte?

Great story:)

Tomte is pronounced tom-teh with the accent on "tom" and the "teh" sort of trailing off. At least that's the way the old Swedes around here say it. I'm not an old Swede (or a very young one). I'm an adopted-in-Swede and that is an enjoyable way to live in these parts!

Clever ! Way to go! Love the illustration, too. Maybe I'll do s 22 word story of my own. Let me think...22 words seems SO few to this chatterbox.
