It's that time of year again. The summer night noises are comforting. We hear crickets and as long as they are outside, the chirping music is expected, constant and in some way, comforting.
Sometimes even when they're inside they can be comforting. They are a constant repetitive sound in a world that is constantly changing. Somehow that is comforting.
Cute! I love the Jewish Cricket Fiddler on the Roof!!!
As much as I loathe the Summer heat, I do very much enjoy the sounds of Summer evenings. Of course crickets chirping often remind me of your own very original guitar song...
Another Summer sound I enjoy is the locust. I remember being quite small and taking a walk in Lindsborg as a family. It seems as if we were at the South park and I could hear the locust. I looked up at the trees and they just seemed so big. I also remember that you and dad were holding hands and talking and Tab and I were being goofy as usual in our own little worlds. Funny how there are some memories plain as day even though they were so long ago. Things like this make me think about how and I act and what I do and say when I am with my kids. I want them to also have such pleasant memories when they are grown.
Liv- Those memories are priceless! I can also remember when I first heard locusts as a little girl. I can remember the feel and smell and comfort of that evening. Ya know? Do you think Sean and you and the kids could sing that song if we can recall the words? Maybe Dad could play it for us... if I can remember the chords!
I love all that this artist has on youtube! The cricket is a nice sound in the summer. Florida doesn't have beautiful night sounds like that. Locusts aren't here either.
