Puzzling Conversation

Mike and I went to our Home Town Grocery Store this evening. We had a list and a few things in our minds to get. Mike drove us home and we were chatting about nothing important, thinking our own thoughts commenting on the Rose of Sharon bushes in bloom and the messiness, but beauty of Linden trees, I made a random comment after some varied random conversation: Me: I don't know what it's about. Mike: I know I don't know what it's about.... Then he says: "That sounded contradictory." A few seconds later... Me: What were we talking about anyway? Mike: I don't remember. Me: Oh well. We chuckle and I wonder, "Does anyone else have these types of conversations and should I even admit to this one?"

You guys are so funny.

I sometimes have one isolated, no-context-for-my-hearers thoughts come out my mouth that makes everyone think, "okaaaaay...early Alzheimers here?" It's usually in the car when my mind wanders at a high rate of speed! It'll go something like this.

Silence for a few miles.
Then...
Me: So what color are you thinking of changing it to?
Paul: Who? What do you mean change color?
Me: What are YOU talking about?
Paul: You asked the question.
Me: I did? What was the question?
Paul: Are you sure you're okay?
Me: Yeh, but what does that have to do with changing color?
Paul: (shaking his head) Never mind.
Me: Are you sure YOU"RE okay?

In the above example, I was having a conversation in my head with a friend who was about to redecorate her dining room and I just hadn't called her yet. I was pre-conversing with that friend--who lives in KS, a really bad thing to do wheh it's out loud and not directed to the listener sitting next to me in a car ride in MARYLAND!

Zo-
I can relate!!
Okay, so what's all the hoopla about? You guys are just talking about what is for Dick and I a typical conversation.
Zac (our son) has often been quoted as saying, "You don't make any sense!"

Ruth,
"Sometimes nonsense just makes sense!"
